Our Family
About Us
Come Be Family
You might say it's a generational thing, or simply that it's in our DNA. For as long as we can remember there was a Brinson trying to do something innovative — fixing cars, building computers, catching shrimp, or making moonshine. At Brinson Spirits, our motivation is to instill our family's expertise and steady drive for excellence in everything we do, connecting craft beverages and whole foods to transform your experiences into treasured memories that last a lifetime. When we say “Come Be Family,” it's a genuine invitation — we keep a seat for you at our table.
Norman Brinson
Founder & Distiller
Norman comes from a long line of entrepreneurs who all believed the same thing — it is never too late to learn something new. Taking this to heart, he went from delivering newspapers to carpentry, raising a family while earning a chemical engineering degree, to now opening a distillery and restaurant. After over 27 years in industry — leading teams of engineers to ensure production, quality, cost, and safety goals — Norman realized that his attitude of “never too busy to help or train” was a rarity. When most people consider retirement, Norman thrives as he creates new liquors, tweaks his distillation process, and learns every skill needed to build and run a successful business of his own. He understands that success is built on trying, learning, and trying again — no matter how long it takes. Married for nearly 40 years and a father of six, Norman embodies what Brinson Spirits means: working hard, learning well, and sharing the family spirit with everyone.
Linda Brinson
Chief Financial Officer
Though married to Norman for about two-thirds her life, Linda's path has been her own. Marrying young and having five kids in six years, her focus has always been family — but as she homeschooled each of her children, Linda learned that family has very little to do with blood. Family is a choice, and all are welcome. Literally: Linda opened her home to four different groups of people who needed a place to live, including a missionary family of four who stayed over a year. That warm, open heart built intense management skills — keeping seven Brinsons, a mother, four missionaries, and a full house running is not for the faint of spirit. Over a decade at Family Trust FCU as a teller and loan officer gave her the customer service and financial training to run Brinson Spirits as CFO. With the encouragement of her family and friends, Linda is “All In,” ready to serve good food, good drinks, and greet everyone into the family with open arms.
Matthew Brinson
Operations & Co-Founder
Taking the tenacity of his father and the heart of his mother, Matthew approaches everything with a fearless attitude. Once he sets his mind to something, he won't stop until it happens. He earned his degree as a full-time student while working full-time and raising two children. Fourteen years at Chick-fil-A taught him the vitalness of service, excellence, and quality; managing food trucks for Cousins Maine Lobster across four states taught him smooth supply systems and caring for employees and equipment; and time at Hickory Tavern drove home how proper budgeting affects both team and guests. That's when Matthew approached his parents about opening Brinson Spirits — a place they could call home. The road has been anything but smooth, but none of them would be stopped. They built windows when the doors wouldn't budge, paving the path forward with the rubble of everything that tried to stop them. Any wall can come down with dedication, perseverance, and a big enough sledgehammer.
